Greater Manchester Police welcome 20 colleagues from overseas for training

Greater Manchester Police recently welcomed 20 colleagues from a number of New Jersey Townships and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Chiefs (RCMP) as part of a Leadership Course.

The week-long programme focused on looking at the British Policing model, as well as visiting some famous sites of the North-West.

The officers also learnt about command models, stadium policing in the UK, gang related violence and the GMP firearms model.

Chief Christopher Leusner, Middle Township Police, Vice President, New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police said: “The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police is very proud of the relationship we have established with our colleagues in UK policing.

“We have come this week to Manchester to explore with the GMP best practices in community policing, counter-terrorism, leadership, and effective communications. The level of professionalism of the GMP, and collegiality that we’ve enjoyed has been truly outstanding.”
